THE BGUN BLOG | SERVICE AS A DUTY

BLOG

When we think of service, we are thinking, how can we live with gratitude for the opportunity to be here on such a beautiful planet, on an unrivalled mass of land that we today refer to as Africa, rich in nature’s mineral resources, yes, but so much more?

Africa gave civilisation to the world before Kemet today known as Egypt and after Kemet. It is rich for its ancient traditions and understanding of the world, for it is this that enabled it to survive the worst atrocities visited on a people on this planet. Yet, it continues to grow, learn and thrive because of its true richness, its diversity, ancient wisdom and fundamental ability to live with its differences despite what we are told to the contrary.

With thousands of languages, countless subsets of traditions and customs that still connect its peoples regardless of the waves of migration that plagued the continent after the fall, Africans have continued to serve its existence through the preservation of its art, music, dance, cuisine, literature, discourse, artisanship and innovation.

The BGUN Blog is about providing a space where Africa’s youth can once more gather to pay homage and service to our ancestors’ legacies of what true civilisation means. For it is in our ability to show gratitude for having life, despite the adversities suffered, to celebrate our naturally born talent and master our skills that our meaning and purpose for being here truly comes alive.

We have created a template for this work to be done, as we prepare to develop the infrastructure that will enable us to create a meeting place for those who understand that such service is a duty, to meet, create and thrive.

We hope you can make time to visit our Blog and interact with the sample materials provided to guide our future development of this work.
